NCG at Canberra 2010

About a few days back I went to Canberra for National conference and Games (NCG). NCG is basically an annual event where the Malaysians from various states in Australia congregate together and try to kick each other's asses trying to solve their disputes in games.

There are several games. This yr, South Australia (SA) is sending participants for rugby, netball, badminton, table tennis, bowling, basketball male, tennis, frisbee, squash and futsal.

And this yr, SA really made me proud.

But before goin into that, let's talk about the journey.

The Journey.

Basicaly, there were about 30 of us pushing off via car. So there were 7 cars. 7 cars, and a 14 hour journey ahead of us. The male drivers were limited. So there fore, everyone was in overdrive that night. We pushed of at about 11 in the morning, only to arrive at about 3am the next morning at Canberra, just in time to catch the World Cup final. woot2.

Finals...Spain won. Demm. I was rooting for Holland.. But Spain is my team as well. so...

Anyway, the journey was very2 tiring, but fun. Of course, there were a few bums up fronts who were racing each other and leaving us at the back. The two cars up front were driving about, what, like 120 to 140 when the rest are just driving about 100 on the foggy highway. In the end we all made it. Safe and sound, (and cold. Canberra's bloody freezing!!).

NCG at Canberra.

Basically, there is only one word to summarise the NCG at Canberra this year..

SERABUT...

The committee macam main2. There were aspects of the event that were not thought out properly. The food was not up to par. The Malaysian Night was scrappy. Possibly due to the regulation of funds by the MSD (Biasala, MSD dah miskin).

And don't forget the rugby commotion....

Padang takleh pakai. Kena cari padang lain on the day of the match. Bla2. Paramedic takde ice. Paan injured kot. grr.

But every side has two coins..

This year, SA improved drastically compared to last year. We won more medals and we climbed up higher than last year in the overall points.

Gold for basketball. Bronze for netball, rugby (!) and frisbee (!!). Silver for tennis. Bowling dapat gold and silver.

But sad..so sad..

Remember guys? Kalau Frisbee menang dgn VIC, dapat silver. (demm u vic). Tapi tie dgn vic, pastu kalau by two point difference (Demm again VIC). Nasib baik rugby dapat kalahkan VIC, (padan muke wakakakaka mampos kau lerr vic. Cam sial berlagak nk mapuh pastu tak dapek menang.). Tapi tu ah. Rugi2. Silap2 kalau menang frisbee tu dah dapat third dah overall. Ni dapat fourth. Pastu third place.. VIC!! (demm ah korang ni bila mau mapuhh ni. wakakaka).

But sad so sad pon, we move on. SA is better this year. Stronger on all counts.

And lets not forget..

The supporters, who are behind us every step of the way.

The ruggers, who played with their life and came out the other side in good form. (Lupekan je Sydney tu. ).

The bowlers, first time participating, and brought home the gold.

And then there were newcomers. Acees brought his three beautiful girls. (OK technically only one of them was his. But lagi dua tu cute pee. *Nabila*!! *Ainil*!!).

And we kept cool the whole way round. We were dignified. Relaxed. We were different from the rest. We were united. We were South Australian. And we love it that way.

Next year guys. Next year. We'll kick the crap out of em and show em who is who.

We're cool all the way.

Let's go SA. Let's go..

The Only Exception.

You are the only exception.

Dear Friend, I wish u would understand

Dear Friend, I wish you would understand.

I am not a bad person, and I know you are not as well.

We used to be close, then one perception kills our friendship.

Let me get this straight.

I am not interested to hurt anyone u are close to.

What happened was not solely my fault.

I don't know whether you should forgive me or not, because I do not know what crime did I commit.

But I hope you understand that I mean no harm

You do bring happiness in my life, I mean every word of it.

Don't misunderstand me. Of all people you should know better. You are generally misunderstood as well.

I wish I can speak to you again.

I hate perceptions.. Especially wrong ones. Not that I care about them. But I hate it when it kills friendship.

I hate it that nowadays when I see you I feel uneasy to be myself.

Unable to speak candidly as I can do before.

I hate how uneasy we react to each other..

All because of what some people say?

Dear friend.. Please understand.

The life we plan.

A non random thought.

"In life, there are always things that will not go according to plan. Why? Well because there are some things in life that are not meant to be planned. "

So?

"Don't get frustrated if something does not go according to plan. God has better things in store for you"

Two days in a lifetime.

Have you ever met a person who you know you can end up happily with?

They catch your imagination and you see a life with them a looong way down the road.

The minute they catch your eye, you just know that you can be with em.

And yet, in that fleeting five minutes of epiphany, reality sinks in.

You will never have a future with them, because you will never see them again...

....

I always meet ppl like that. And it's always the same cycle of events.

A thing about people and personality. When any guy meets with a girl even for just 5 seconds, the guy will be thinking "Can this girl and me go far..". Yes, seems petty. But hey. Everyone does it. And yes. Any guy, with any girl they meet..

Don't get me wrong, girls do it too. Don't deny it k. =)

That's the interesting part. Whilst there are a lucky few that had met their LOTL (work this out urselves) early in life and had kept their relationship going, there are actually a lot more that belongs to the 'other' group. The unluckier ones who are left by the wayside.

And what's more interesting, is how fate brings two people together, who are perfect in every sense for each other...

but...

Yeap there will always be a but wouldn't it..

But, there is always a downside...

Trust me when I say, I judge myself more than anybody else. And I know myself more than anyone else could possibly do. And trust me if I say, "yeap. I know this girl and I can go far".

But... Interestingly for me, however perfect the chemistry will be, I know I can never have a future with em.

Because I will only meet them for two days in a lifetime.. Only for a short time, by chance fate brought us together, and then I will never see her again.

And this had happened to me many times. And to other people as well.

But that's life. You meet people you like, and you will never see them again. They will remain a figment in your memory, and fleeting five seconds of fantasy followed by the bitter reality that follows after.

How I cope with it? Well, I enjoy the two days I have them. Even if it only means looking to the other side of a room full of people. I'd be happy only to exchange glances, without the use of words..

Ahh the wonder..

How God decides to bring two people together for that one moment of happiness..

Interesting thing about exams:

1. No matter when we start studying, we never seem to finish, especially the last two chapters.

2. No matter how late we start studying, we always manage to read thru all tutorials on the day of the exam

3. No matter how early we start, we always seem to study most effectively 3 hours before the exam starts.

4. No matter how packed the timetable is, we always seem to be able to squeeze some play time in between.

5. No matter how fast we do the questions, we never seem to finish confidently.

6. No matter how hard the question is, we get the most ideas of doing them 10 minutes before the exam finishes.

7. No matter how well we do the formulae sheet, we always seem to leave something behind

8. No matter how nerdy we are during exams, we always find someone to talk about it...

Yay! another two days!! =)

Lenka - Don't Let me fall

Don't Let Me Fall Lyrics
Underneath the moon,
Underneath the stars
Heres a little heart for you
Up above the world,
Up above it all
Heres a hand to hold on to

But if I should break,
If I should fall away
What am I to do?
I need someone to take,
A little of the weight
Or I'll fall through

You're just the one
That I've been waiting for
I'll give you
All that I have
To give and more
But don't let me fall

Take a little time,
Walk a little line
Got the balance right
Give a little love,
Gimme just enough
So that I can hang on tight

We will be alright,
I'll be by your side
I wont let you down
But I gotta know,
No matter how things go
That you will be alright

You're just the one
That I've been waiting for
I'll give you all
That I have
To give and more
But don't let me fall

Underneath the moon,
Underneath the stars
Heres a little heart for you
Up above the world,
Up above it all
Heres a hand to hold on to

Your just the one
That I've been waiting for
I'll give you
All that I have
To give and more
But don't let me fall

You'll be the one
That I'll love forever more
I'll be here holding you
High above it all
But don't let me fall

Menggatal

Yep. Deal with it.

I love to meet people.

I love to speak to people.

And yes. I will try. All the time.

So bear with me. If I don't search, I won't find.

Yep. I'm always itchy. Get that around your heads okay? =D

Why we should study.

I have a new ground breaking theory..

I finally found the long awaited answer, to why we must study!

I'll say it again...

I found the ANSWER!! Answer to WHY we MUST STUDY!!

iyahhhh!!!

ahhaa.

It's simple really.

Being a guy of 20 years old.

I make a new conclusion.

(As i do every day)

I found that, in life,

While we enjoy doing the things we like,

The things we don't like are the things that bring most effect to us.

We remember the things we hate...

Think about it..Seriously..

The girl we don't want is usually the girl we get.

The girl we really hate and we fight with all the time ends up to be our perfect woman.

The guys we usually hate are the people who are the most truthful to our face, and someday will turn out to be our best friend..

Medicine, which is yucky, turns out to be, well, healing..

And vegetables, which are, well, disgusting, turns out to be the best food there is in terms of nutrients.

Hey veges are no KFC..(ahh rindu KFC!)

So, since we don't like studying..

If fact we hate it..

We really HATE it...

It's really the only way to gain knowledge nowadays.

We will gain knowledge, because we hate studying..

Ironic right?

Well, ironic as it is, the government knows about this..

So, blame the government for asking us to study and take exams...

Did i say blame??

I meant thanks...

For making us study, and making us hate it so much!!

HIYAHH!!!

Happy(?) Studying. =D

Ayam Belanda Theory

It had always amazed me, this animal.

It's not just a chicken, but the MONSTER of a chicken.

With tasty flesh, and succulent chops to be had.

However, it's not the splendor taste and superior quantity that amazes me.

A bit of fact.

This animal is called a Turkey. Tur-Key.

So naturally, one might think it originates from the country with the same name.

However, interestingly, in Malay it's not called Ayam Turki, or Ayam Constatinople, or Ayam Atartuk

Its called Ayam Belanda..

AYAM BELANDA??

WTF??

So, err, why in English, it's not called the Holland Chicken? Or the netherlands chicken. Or Dutch Chicken? Or Chicken Oranje?? (Ok fine semangat world cup).

But it's called instead, ayam Belanda...

To be honest, I have a few theories regarding this..

Ok ok fine. I have only one theory...

I think..

That in the days when the Dutch were colonising our beautiful small country, they were the ones who brought in Turkey from the west.

Being the average Malay farmer who only knows about Ayam Brand, he saw the MONSTER of a chicken and gasped, and then he fainted into a coma for 3 days and 3 nights.

When he woke up from a coma, he was at a Dutch Governor's house. He looked around the big house, and then walked around, still dazed and confused.

He went out of the house in order to escape to his home because he was hungering for chicken. Well, NORMAL ayam to be exact.

But when he got into the lawn of the Governor's house, it looked at him. IT, looked at him straight in the eye.

Standing only 3 feet in front of him, is the biggest Turkey he ever saw. It the normal Ayam Belanda was a monster of a chicken, this one, was A GODZILLA!!

It was 2 stories tall, with feet that looked like they can stomp on a man until any fat man would become slim in just 5 minutes.

The farmer froze, dead in his tracks. He tried to move an inch, but the Turkey was all eyes on him. He couldn't move.

Then,

The Turkey charged at him. Reading the Surah Al-Fatihah, the farmer closed his eyes tightly waiting for the pain to come and subside as he goes into the mysterious beyond. (tutup mata takut mati).

suddenly!!

"Persiee!! How many times do i have to tell you not to play with strangers!!". The Dutch Governor came to the farmer's rescue.

The farmer sighed a sigh of relief.

The Governor apologised a million times to the farmer. And as a token of apology,

Persiee the turkey was given to the farmer, as a pet.

Delighted at his new poultry pet, he brought Persiee to his Village.

And there, the story came to end, with the villagers having enough supply of chicken to last them for a month.

And forever, Persiee came to be known by the villagers, as Ayam Belanda...

True Story. =

SW Erdnase Part 1

SW Erdnase was a card expert, who wrote THE treatise of card cheating in human history. No book had ever been written so lucidly since on card cheating and advantage playing with cards.

Nobody knew who he was. He died a premature death by shooting himself before he got fuzzed by the feds. However, his legacy lives on as one of the most studies and illicitly read book on the subject of card cheating.

Dai Vernon, one of the most influential magicians in the 20th century called Erdnase the 'greatest book on card magic that had ever been published, and there are no works that can supersede it since'. Dai himself had written the annotated version of Erdnase entitled Revelation, which, in his own words, 'needs to be studied with constant reference to the original text.' .

'The methods in Erdnase are both simple and practical', writes Vernon. Proves true in every sense of the word. However, simple does not mean easy to acquire. Simple in purpose and appearance, maybe. But cardsharping rarely takes a simple turn to acquire. Years and years of practice goes into making a move seem perfect. i.e. not like a move. Essentially, not only a perfect understanding of the mechanics is important, but also, on the situation where the move is made, and also the 'shade' utilised in making the move.

It should be noted that reading Erdnase alone, without the effort on the part of the reader, will not make an amateur become a professional overnight. Hours of assidious practice is needed in order to fully grasp the teachings of Erdnase.

From seemingly easy to acquire moves to expert manipulation at the card table, SW Erdnase is essential in the library of every card worker.

"The finished card expert considers nothing too trivial that in any way contributes to his success." (Erdnase, 1902)

We See the Product. We never see the process

It's interesting.

We see the final product of everything. We never see the process.

So maybe, we don't really appreciate what we see?

We don't really know the hardship going into something?

So if you have the chance, try to see the process. You'll do better next time. =D
