Random #6

I get a hunch sometimes. Handsome and beautiful people get everything sometimes, and their less fortunate counterparts get less.

Humans are extremely biased, because there are some things we prefer, and some things we dont. We naturally feel some way about things, and about some we just don't care.

Fangs are attractive.

Studying is very tiring, especially when we really study and we get a lot out of it. It's mentally exhausting, makes us hungry, and make us (want) to sleep early.

The only thing separating us from hardship, is the starting point.

Oldies songs have a lot of musical quality, hence the emergence of 'evergreen' songs. Music nowadays sound kind of the same.

We long for variety, all the time.

Fighting from the inside is a lot more effective than going in from the outside.

We love to laugh, but sometimes we forget how to..

It used to be about right and wrong. Now its all about what's acceptable and what's not. It can be wrong but acceptable..

Some people love to dictate, but cannot be dictated. (A natural leader? =p)

Fathers are generally quiet. Mothers are just, well, 'motherly'.

Men laugh more than women.

There is a chance that going backwards in trends will be an acceptable thing, because of the need for change.

Examination syndrome

Hey its here. Our most beloved time of year. They say absence make the heart grow fonder, and since we do this only twice a year, as opposed to meeting our gf/bf everyday, definitely this is our most favourite time of year.

Yep my friends, we are on the verge of exams.

Thing is, the most ironic thing about exams is, well, we start to study. Well i do at least.

See what's funny? We START to study.

I mean, think about it. We have lived for at least 20 years of our life, 13 of which we had taken exams. For Malaysians, we had gone through at least one major exam in our life. For most of us, of course, we had done all three.

But everytime exams loom, the same thing happens.

Over and over.

Like say, studying at the last minute. Now in my case, this is the biggest lesson that I had always wanted to learn after every exam, but I keep saying that after every exam. Point is, lesson never learnt. I keep saying that I dont want to study at the last minute, but... =D

And know what's funny? We actually learn all that we're supposed to learn in the short time span we call swot vac.

Imagine in two weeks studying for 4 subjects. And we can get a distinction mind you (Ive seen people do it).

So of course we think "hey, kan senang kalau aku study dari awal. Takde la study macam nk gila dekat2 nak exam.". Yet, we (ok me) do it over and over again, during every exam. (big sigh)

Ada lagi yg funny. Its funny how when closer to the exam, we find that we can actually sit down quietly, open our books and study. We can actually do four tutorials in a day, when we had one week to do each one. We can actually understand one chapter in two hours, when we had 2 weeks to learn each one.

I guess being under pressure makes us this way eh. haha.

And it's funny, that after every exam, I keep doing this over and over again.

God, when do I stop? Hope I learn my lesson soon.

Sesungguhnya niat tu penting. Belajarlah kerana ilmu, dan bukan hanya untuk mengenakan dakwat kepada kertas. Cheywah.

Good luck for exams everyone. Let's learn our lesson hahaha.

Idelized love.

I just finished watching a movie. I wont tell you what it is because, well, because....

Okay2 cut the story short. It's basically a love movie. Now i don't watch movies often. Let alone love movies, because they're all lovey dovey and sweet...Don't get me wrong, its not that I dont like the story, its the love parts that makes me all "warmm and fuzzy". When people go "awwww sweet" (note: girls) I go "awwwww, ok laa".

But after recapping most of the love movies that I watch, (note: I can count them with my fingers, and I mean hands..okay2 two hands.) I find that love in movies, are very very idealized.

Oh yes, very idealized.

You know, flowers by the bed when the girl wakes up. Wedding on top of a roof in Manhattan. an 'I Love You' every second, followed by a kiss. Love at first sight. Romeo and Julio. U know..all that.

Not to burst any bubbles but somehow, very honestly, I think love does not happen that way in life. We dont fall in love at first sight and we dont say I love you every second. Selfishly, I think movies tend to give a very limited and idelized portrayal of what love really is.

Movies tend to say that love is easy. Love is straight up, easy. You know, easy to find, and when youre in it, easy to keep. Awww love love love.

Thing is, love needs to be found. It's not easy to find in real life and it's not easy to keep when youre in love. That is, if you found it in the first place. It's beautiful yeah, I dont deny that, but it is hard to find, and hard to keep.

And in movies, love is a total devotion to the other person. No kidding. "I'll die for you". "You jump I jump". Woo, imagine how many people would have died then. Thing is, being in love does not mean total devotion. We still need some devotion to ourselves right? Of course you love em, but in the first place, why jump of the Titanic. Just stay put together on top of the damn ship.

Apa lagi ek. Love means no lies, I'll accept you the way you are. Hurmm. Of course love means accepting oneself as they are, but if the true self is a thief? Or a liar? Or a drunk? You accept them the way they are? Got to look out for yourself also right?

My point is, love is really really idealized in movies. We can't take the portrayal of love in movies as what happens in real life. Sure, we would want that, but it's just not probable.

But idealized love is good as well. In a life where love is not ideal, its good to give a glimpse of the world if it is really ideal. At least for two hours in a total of 24, we have a warm feeling inside that might give us some kind of strength and inspiration, to find love, and to not give up on the way.

Hey, that's what movies are for right? To give a glimpse of what could be. It's fantasy, but it gives people some hope.

At least for two hours, we all feel some kind of love. Just, don't think that that's how it really is.

A Long Holiday.

Hye, long time no see.

I have been going on holiday for the past 4 weeks.

Holiday, to places you've seen before, but I see them in a different way.

I guess I just needed some rest after a long stretch of serious thoughts. Like our bodies, our minds need holidays too.

Sometimes, our minds need rest so that when we look at things, we can see them in a different way.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not Mr Creative, who can see a rectangle in a thousand possible ways.

I'm just saying that when our minds need rest, go and rest, while you can.

So what about my holiday?

I went to the grasslands of Scotland, where it is as tranquil as the river and as calm as the breeze blowing.

I went to Malaysia to 'see' my family. They are the ones I can rely on when the going gets tough.

I went to the snow in Russia, where it is as cold as death and as sinister as steel.

I went to the beach, to see the sun set, to feel the hungry sea, to feel the rough sand on my feet.

I met a lot of new people as well. People with youthful energy always ready to do anything to fulfill their neverending thirst for adventure.

People who are old, and are only content as long as they are not forgotten by their kids.

People who are like me, who are in search of love and the meaning of friendship.

People, generally, all types of people.

And a long holiday was what I needed. I am still a student in the cold school they call experience. Now, I know more, I can see more. And I hope I will continue to do so in the future.

Pheww, that was a loooong holiday. Told ya.
